Full bio (use as default)

Derek Fermin writes fast-paced legal thrillers about what happens when ordinary people collide with rigged systems. His debut novel, Inheritance of Lies, launches the David Mercer series, following a Kansas City attorney who uncovers a shadow network tying together courthouses, corporations, and backroom power brokers. The prequel novella, The Sealed Deal, pulls readers into the case that starts it all, and the sequel, Shadow Network, continues the story in Spring 2026.

Drawing on experience inside real-world law offices, Derek blends courtroom tension, conspiracy, and human stakes in every story. When he’s not breaking fictional attorneys’ lives, he’s probably building elaborate LEGO sets or binging true-crime shows and podcasts.

Derek is the founder of Derek Fermin Books LLC and is currently expanding the Mercer universe while developing new stand-alone legal thrillers.
